Hi beauties! I finally picked up something from Smashbox, which I'm going to share with you guys :) Its their Step-by-Step Contour Kit (11.47 g, 44.50 EUR). Mine is in shade light-medium, there is also available on Sephora medium-dark (link)
In the kit you'll get a palette with 3 powders for highlighting, bronzing and contouring. It also includes a brush and instructions how and where to apply the powders. I like that they show how to sculpt different face shapes. I think its really handy to have, because we all don't have the same face shape.
The palette with 3 powders is very sleek and comes with a mirror inside, which is always good to have. The size of the palette is perfect to take with you when traveling.
The texture of all 3 powders is very buttery and soft. The bronzer and contouring powder match me well, but the highlighter is not as light as I would like it. I use it to set my foundation.
These powders are easy to blend out, but I keep comparing it with my Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting palette (review) and the powders there blend out so much better. So I'm bit spoiled when it comes blending out my contouring powder ;) Its not that I have to work really hard at blending these out, its just it takes longer then with the other powders.
Overall I do like this trio! I love that the contouring powder is cooled tone to create the perfect shadow under the cheek bones and the bronzer compliments my fair skin perfectly. I would like the highlighter to be a better match for me. At the moment I can see myself use it as highlighter when I have a tan on and that doesn't happen that often.
If you are here in Netherlands you can find this Smashbox contouring palette here.

Have you tried this sculpting palette? Which is your favorite product for contouring? I think I want to try something new :P
Thanks for reading! xo's
I have this and I love the highlighter x
ReplyDeleteI have heard so many mixed reviews about this and I really want to try it... I may have to invest one day!

I really like the look of the Contour shade, seems pretty neutral, almost a little cool. :-)

I love that the powders are soft and creamy. I have dry skin, so I need formulas that will not dry it out further. I guess it's not surprising that it compares less well to the Kevyn Aucoin palette but for the price this seems a pretty decent buy. Tx
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like it would be great for travelling with! I'm not really into the contouring thing so it's probably not something I'd get a lot of use from - the highlighter does look pretty, though <3

The paletter looks good. You're right though the highlighter should have been a bit lighter. But I will be happy to use that to set my under eye concealer.
